About

Introduction

Founded in 2018, the vision for SALT was 3 years in the planning. We aimed to create a modern, accessible brand, embedded in the local community of the UNESCO World Heritage Village of Saltaire. We strive to produce exceptional hop-forward beer and couple this with a valuable brand experience.

Purpose

Our purpose is to create pleasure through beer – This is why we exist. Craft beer is our means to impact people above beyond their taste buds.

As a small team of people who are dedicated to our craft, we share the same vision – ‘To be renowned for exceptional beer, unique experiences and being a positive force amongst our community’

Heritage

Our homeland, the UNESCO village of Saltaire and the accompanying mill were built by a superprogressive pioneer of worker’s rights in the 1800s. We are mightily proud of our heritage, We adopt the same progressive spirit through our modern brewing styles. Telling the story of our local history and heritage is core to our journey. The inspiration of our forefathers can be seen in our name, throughout our brewery, and the textiles used to name our beers.

Our homeland is our inspiration, we want to tell this story through progressive beer. We hope our legacy extends beyond brewing, adding to the rich history that surrounds us everyday.

Brewery &  Tap Room

The brewery is housed by a Grade II Listed Edwardian Tram Shed building in the UNESCO World Heritage Village of Saltaire. We dreamt of building the ultimate brewery experience, combining brewery and taproom in one seamless venue. To make this dream a reality, we worked with local historic building planners and UNESCO representatives to contrast stunning architecture with a state of the art brewing scheme.

The result is SALT Beer Factory – An award-winning brewery & winner of SIBA UK’s Best Independent Craft Brewery taproom. Beyond its textile manufacturing roots, Saltaire has a rich arts and culture history. We hope to contribute to this by creating a beer-drinking destination, serving handcrafted beer in its freshest form at source.
