Meet the Brewer: Tom Plant
This week sees us enter a new month, and welcome a new member of the brewing team to SALT.
Tom’s been busy getting to grips with the brew house all this week, and it’s evident that his skills and knowledge are going to be an amazing addition to the existing brewing team!
As with all new starters, we put some questions to Tom to get to know him a little better.
How did you get into the brewing industry?
I was lucky enough to get into the industry with my first job as assistant brewer at Blackjack Beers in Manchester back in 2015.
What excited you about joining SALT?
From visiting the brewery, I could tell there was a lot of positive energy and good people. Combine that with such a beautiful brewhouse, it’s just makes for great beer!
What’s your favourite beer/style at the moment?
American Brown Ale, this will always be the greatest style of beer. When brewed well it has something for everyone and you can keep returning to it pint after pint!
And now for the important stuff….
If you were a wrestler, what would your entrance music be?
Young Man’s Blues by Modern Life is War – long story short but as soon as I hear that played live I’m diving on people!
If you were on Mastermind, what would your specialist subject be?
What is the most used emoji on your phone?
If a film was made of your life what genre would it be, who would play you?
A dark comedy that wasn’t funny, a lot of people have said I look like Tom Hardy.
Coffee or Tea?
Bourbon Biscuits or Custard Creams?
If you were trapped on a desert island and could only take 1 Book, 1 Album and an unlimited supply of one beer, what would you take
Book: American Gods
Album: Holy Mountain by Sleep
Beer: Orval or Augustiner Helles, I know I said brown ales are the best but some beers are classics for a reason.
