Spotlight on – Taproom Manager, Chris Crosby
The taproom is situated in the heart of SALT Beer Factory, a place where visitors can enjoy the freshest SALT beers with all the backdrop and theatre of the brewhouse around them.
Keeping this venue in order is no mean feat, so when we decided it was time to take on a full-time taproom manager there was only one man we had in mind for the job.
We’re delighted to announce that the man, the brand, the legend that is Mr Chris Crosby will be at the helm from this weekend onwards.
Those who have visited our Craft Asylum bars may recognise his smiley beardy face, as he’s been working hard over the last year as manager of Craft Asylum #2 to bring SALT to the good people of Leeds.
Chris will be responsible for making sure that the taproom always has the freshest, newest SALT beers on offer as well as ensuring that visitors to the taproom receive the warmest welcome and benefit from the expertise of our bar team.
We decided to put some questions to Chris to get to know him a little better:
How did you get into the brewing industry?
CC: I’d like to say when I took up bar work during college, but I feel it goes deeper than that… Pulled my first pint when I was still in single digits at the pub my uncle worked at. Still the best pint that’s been served over that bar.
What excited you about joining SALT?
CC: Having joined the team just before the brewery opened that would be it. So very few people in this industry get the privilege to be part of something from the start and it’s the proudest part of my long, not so sober, career!
What’s your favourite style of beer?
CC: I’m a big fan of the more modern styles, and mostly drink IPAs, however sit me down with a big impy stout and that’s what I’ll enjoy the most.
And now for the important stuff….
If you were a wrestler, what would your entrance music be?
CC: Chumbawamba – Tubthumping
If you were on Mastermind, what would your specialist subject be?
CC: Misheard song lyrics… I will almost always sing the wrong words!
What is the most used emoji on your phone?
CC: 😂 – apparently I’m hilarious and laugh at all my own jokes. Who wouldn’t, when you’re as funny as me?
Sparkler or no Sparkler?
CC: Sparkler obviously
Coffee or Tea?
Bourbon Biscuits or Custard Creams?
CC: Custard Creams
If you were trapped on a desert island and could only take 1 Book, 1 Album and an unlimited supply of 1 Beer with you, what would you take?
Book – What about “Where’s Wally”? Does that count?! If not Paolo Coehlo – The Alchemist
Album – Coheed & Cambria – In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth 3 (I’m a big fan boy)
Beer – Do I get a fridge?! This largely changes my answer… No fridge – Kala Namak (drooooool), with a fridge – Citra NEIPA jnr (want to have that super sessionable thirst quencher amiright?)
