SALT is coming to Oakwood

You heard it here first folks! We're bringing our unique brand of craft, cocktails from some great friends, and good times to North Leeds this November, adding tap no. 8 to our impressive portfolio. Having enjoyed great success in recent years, with venues across Saltaire, Granary Wharf, Boston Spa, Sheffield and London sites in Deptford and Woolwich.

Famed for serving up a diverse selection of locally brewed craft beers we’ve got something for everyone, from the craft curious to the connoisseur. Our new bar in Oakwood, Roundhay will feature four cask ales and seven craft beers, including the popular Jute - Session IPA, new refreshing pale ale - Loom and crisp YON Lager.

We are also bringing Cocktail Pickers and Black Lines'  famous cocktail creations available ‘on tap’, with 8 classic cocktails made with all-natural ingredients that are poured quickly without compromising quality or taste.

True to the distinctive SALT brand, this venue will feature a bold and vibrant interior design and a laidback environment for guests to unwind in. Expect a warm welcome from our established local team who have been busy becoming experts in all things SALT.

Residents of the popular Leeds suburb will also be able to indulge in some exceptional comfort food courtesy of Big Buns, who will be taking over the SALT Oakwood kitchen. The independent burger brand, from the same people that brought The Falafel Guys to Leeds, has made waves in the local foodie scene with their moreish dry-aged grass-fed patties, buttermilk wings and legendary loaded fries.

Menu highlights include the Big Daddy Don’ner Burger, topped with gourmet donner meat, the Clucky Blue Cheeseburger and the Planty Smash Loaded Fries, topped with vegan smash burger patty.

The menu is designed to perfectly complement the SALT craft ale collection. What better way to soak up a few pints of Jute than a juicy double burger and some buttermilk wings?

SALT Founder Jamie Lawson said:

"Given the resurgence we’ve seen in Oakwood as the place to go in North Leeds, taking SALT there was a no-brainer. The area has fast become a mini-hub for independent bars, cafes, and restaurants that we love and admire, and I know SALT can bring something completely fresh to the party.’’

"As well as being home to some of Yorkshire’s best-selling craft ales, we’ve really nailed our draught cocktails offering and converted many naysayers along the way. We’re also proud to serve up some of the city’s best bar food from Big Buns, who never fail to impress when it comes to mouth-watering burgers, wings and loaded fries.’’

"We can’t wait to welcome the people of Oakwood into our newest venue, just in time for the World Cup and the busy festive season. We’ll see you at the bar!’’

Big Buns co-owners Ahmed and Abdalla Gouda said: “We felt that we had to bring our amazing burgers to local areas of Leeds. Oakwood was the obvious choice for us because of its very family-orientated feel and a great collection of independent family-run businesses. The only thing missing is smash burgers, chicken wings and loaded fries to compliment the current local offering.

The opportunity to work with SALT again felt like the perfect partnership given they reflect our strong family values, customer focus and genuine passion for great quality food and drink.

This branch comes with a complete rebrand for us, as well as an exciting revamp of the menu increasing our focus on our amazing range of loaded fries, along with the new buttermilk fried chicken burgers and wings!”

SALT Oakwood will be in excellent company, as we join a handful of beloved indie bars and restaurants that have helped put the area on the map in recent years. The SALT craft, cocktails and burger offering is unique to the area and destined to be a hit amongst locals and visitors alike.

SALT has officially landed in Oakwood and will be open to the public from Friday 11th November from 12pm.
